Disability can be a challenge. In our society we all want to be perfect. People who aren’t perfect are not accepted. If you are not perfect you are considered a “creep”.
I think that in this society people with disabilitiesdon’t have the attention that they deserve. The concept of diversity includes acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is uniqueand recognising our differences. Whatis“normality”?It should be understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embrace and celebrate the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual. Unfortunately, the attitude of people towards the disabled isn’t always positive, often based more on pity than on affection. We must give equal opportunities to these friends of us. In our society there are still prejudices, structural limitations and architectural barriers that prevent them from living their lives in an autonomous way. The Government should offer more opportunities to the disabled, for their access to work and for more comfortable and accessible housing.
This is the recipe for a real democratic and inclusive society.
