Before every volcanic eruption there are phenomenon called infrasound, those are acoustic waves at a low frequency. These waves are caused by the outgassing of magma. Because of this infrasound we should predict every volcanic eruption with a high percentage of success. It’s what a group of researchers of the University of Firenze did, all coordinated by the geophysical Maurizio Ripepe; they created a system that can predict all imminent volcanic eruption. This alert has a percentage of success of 96%. This datum comes from the researches of the Ripepe’s squad, which did a lot of experiments and tests on the volcano Etna. In return the system has got limits, in fact there are volcanoes that don’t emit any infrasound. But there’s more: the weather is also an important factor. Actually, during bad weather, the registration should be corrupted or inaudible
