Classe V D –  A lot of people don’t know what  E-waste means. This describes discarded electrical or electronic devices, used electronics destined for reuse, resale, salvage, recycling, or disposal. Many shops in Formia,  where  we went, used contribution RAEE that includes all of the devices that are present in our houses. We call RAEE: small and big appliances, toys with electronic components fixtures with lighting, medical devices, control instruments. There is a RAEE coordination centre which has a central organization that takes care of withdrawal and waste management in Italy. Other ways to dispose of RAEE are deliver the gadgets to Municipal collection centre, make use of the service “1 to 1“ namely return the old models to the shop, make use of the service “1  to 0“ namely deliver to the RAEE in the collection centre without  buying a new appliance. We also went to some shops in Scauri, where e-waste is recycled every two-three days: broken screens are given to a recycling companies that reimburses them, some batteries can be returned or disposed off, the phone screens are reused and sold if in good conditions. Each part of the phones is recycled: the electronic cards are recovered and the components that are inside them are disposed, but mother boards, power supplies, keyboards, displays, LCD panels, batteries, crates, mouse, can’t be adjusted or recycled. In almost all the shops visited by electronic shops, the small electrical appliances which are damaged or already broken, are returned to the manufacture, and replaced  by a similar gadget. This process of returning home appliances is mainly given by the work of individual companies. The objects that are returned to the companies are broken down for the creation of the new objects and for the replacement of broken pieces. Also in the cities visited there are some containers used for the collection of the batteries and small electronic items. These wastes are withdrawn from specific companies. On the outskirts of Formia there is a landfill where the citizens of Formia surroundings carry waste such as plastic, metal, paper, glass, aluminium and objects such as washing machines, refrigerators, dish washers, computers, irons, vacuum cleaners and other objects are taken and transported to Cassino’s landfill, which is one of the most important in the Lazio region. In Formia there is a company which currently performs the following services both for the Municipality of Formia and the Municipality of Ventotene: management of the public service of collected of the urban solid denials and comparable; manual and mechanical sweeping; design, construction, or/and management of treatment plants, selection and recovery of special and e-waste (dangerous and not dangerous) and environment protection measures. Rapid changes in technology, changes in media, falling prices, and planned obsolescence have resulted in a fast-growing surplus of electronic waste around globe. Technical solutions are available, but in most cases, a legal framework, a collection, logistics, and other services need to be implemented before a technical solution can be applied. In our opinion, for the future it’s necessary to recycle to preserve the environment, have a better future and ensure a better, healthier and cleaner life for our successors, in fact our generation is developing a new way of life, focused on recycling with the help of organic products.
